Glitterjaw This Month: Video game dating, masculinity, cryptids, and knife aliens

Little Dead Aliens, Novel Gaming, Gimmicks, Skreeonk!

February may be the shortest month of the year, but that doesn’t stop the Glitterjaw Podcast Collective from packing it full of excellent episodes. Let’s look back on what came out and what we’ve been up to!

Distant Echoes ended their galactic journey into Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 with two top-tier episodes, discussing “The Song of Four Wings” and “BLACK.”

Skreeonk! stomped their way through Godzilla vs Gigan (1972) and tag-teamed this tag-team movie with cartoonist Walter Trush as a special guest.

Gimmicks explored toxic masculinity through the self-satirizing and self-parodying Buffy classic, “The Zeppo.”

Fear Coded honored the month-long celebration of love and horror, Valloween, by watching and discussing My Bloody Valentine (1981), Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), and Misery (1990). The crew asked Flipping Phantom developer, Ryan Honig, to guest and they said yes! For the quad date, they all played and discussed the very cute and never psychologically horrifying visual novel/dating sim, Doki Doki Literature Club. Patreon members can also hear a conversation around 2014’s P.T.

The Q Division was joined by writer and podcaster, Harry Steele, to talk lawsuits, backstabbing, mess, and scene-stealing Barbara Carrera of 1983’s Never Say Never Again.

Walloping Websnappers! thwipped through three episodes of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Season 3, covering “Attack of the Arachnoid,” “The Origin of the Spider-Friends,” and “Spidey Meets the Girl from Tomorrow.” Chris from Every Spider-Man Ever joined to travel back to prehistoric times and discuss the 1967 Spider-Man “Vine” episode. Patreon members have access to a discussion on 2024’s Ultimate Spider-Man comic and Kraven the Hunter movie.

The Mixed Reviews made your nightmares come true! Gavin and Louie were joined by playwright, author, and podcaster Sharai Bohannon as they discussed the career of filmmaker Wes Craven. Patreon members can hear an extended cut of the episode and Gavin’s review of How to Make a Killing (2026).

Little Dead Aliens explored the X-Files episode “The Jersey Devil” and invited Doug Fink to join the horror movie sommelier club as they paired their picks for “Conduit.”

Super Mario Moment launched its third season! This time around Hamish is accompanied by Glitterjaw podcaster David as they tackle every Super Mario TV and film adaptation. The duo watched and discussed Saturday Supercade, Super Mario Bros: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach, and Amada Anime Series: Super Mario Bros. Then, Glitterjaw’s Doug and Derek came on to talk about The Super Mario Bros Super Show and get reminded how if you do drugs, you go to hell before you die.

Novel Gaming! started out the month by reading and discussing the 2022 novel How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu and ended it by writing and guessing video game dating profiles.

Lee Carvallo’s Podding Challenge started the conversation on 2007’s The Simpsons Game and asked the question on everyone’s mind — can the Simpsons game that knows it's a Simpsons game capture the essence of The Simpsons?
